Local athletes to compete in Fronhofer Tool Triathlon | Events
Top local athletes will compete in the Fronhofer Tool Triathlon that will be held in Cambridge on Saturday, Aug. 4. The triathlon has been selected as the sole qualifying race in New York for the Best of the U.S. triathlon.
According to a statement, the top three male and female finishers will compete head-to-head against the best amateur athletes from across the country.
“We are very excited to be the host site for New York State’s qualifier,” said Kevin Crossman, race co-director and two-time Best of the U.S. competitor. “It’s an honor to be recognized for the caliber of our event.”
The triathlon, which is in its sixth year, has become popular among local athletes because of its family atmosphere, scenic course, freebies and support from local charities.
The event will include:
An Olympic-distance triathlon and a beginner-friendly sprint-distance race on Saturday at 2 p.m. that consists of a half-mile swim in Lake Lauderdale, followed by a 14.5 mile bike ride through the farmlands of southern Washington County and a 3.1 mile run.
